Being able to roast a whole chicken, turkey, fish, roasts and even vegetables at home and have them come out as good or better than store-bought is why a George Foreman Rotisserie Oven is a great investment.

The meat self bastes so it does not dry out. The outside forms a nice crispy crust while the meat is juicy and fall-off-the-bone tender due to the radiant heat roasting. We are not kidding. Each model comes with great accessories to make preparing a wide variety of dishes easy and delicious.

We found that every model performed as expected in most cases, was simple to use and clean up afterwards.

The GF GR59A Baby George

The Baby George rotisserie oven is the most compact model but can prepare enough food to feed four pretty easily.

Basic Features:

The manufacturer claims you can roast a five pound chicken, but in our opinion that is slightly exaggerated. This size bird is difficult to fit into the oven without it bumping up against the door which means it won’t rotate and cook correctly. A four pound chicken is just right, though.

The flat basket is beyond handy for preparing a variety of foods that won’t fit on the spit. You can easily roast fish, vegetables and chicken parts (legs or breast, for example). Be sure to brush the basket with a little oil and nothing will stick in it.

The kabob skewers are perfect for roasting up a quick meal. Just be sure not to cut the vegetables too small. Bigger is better so that they cooks evenly with the chunks of steak, chicken or shrimp. We learned to start the rice cooker first because everything cooks so quickly in the Baby George.

Cleanup is easy in this little oven. The drip tray and back reflector are easy to remove and clean, as is the roll-up door. When you remove your food leave the oven open to cool and then soak everything in hot soapy water and it usually rinses off easily.

Who Is The Baby George Rotisserie Oven Recommended For?

This small rotisserie oven is perfect for singles or couples and small kitchens. A son or daughter off to college, first-time homebuyer (housewarming gift) or a senior who wants to cook simple healthy meals will love the Baby George.

Being able to roast a turkey makes this a great appliance to have around if you want to keep your oven free for baking other Thanksgiving dishes. It will sear the outside to a nice crispy texture and seal in the juices for tender meat.

Marinating your roast or injecting some seasoning into a chicken or turkey will give you tender delicious meat. Getting two chickens or cornish game hens on the spit takes some practice but it can be done. At the end this review we will have some tips and tricks to help you learn how to roast in all the ovens easily.

The extra basket with the George Junior is a great accessory for roasting potatoes and larger quantities of vegetables. Broccoli, carrots, potatoes and squash are cooked to perfection and taste terrific. Brush the flat and round basket with some canola or vegetable oil and nothing will stick to them very badly.

The cleanup of the George Junior is just as easy as the smaller model. The drip tray, door and back reflector come out for easy cleaning and it’s simple to wipe out the interior with a damp sponge or paper towel.

Who Is The George Junior Rotisserie Oven For?

A family of four to six will most likely find this is the perfect size rotisserie oven for their household. It is also great for anyone who likes to throw small parties but not spend the whole time in the kitchen cooking.

This model is pretty compact but does need a significant amount of counter space and won’t fit into most cupboards. However, you’ll be using it so much it will be a welcome addition to your kitchen space and make the oven feel left out.

There is not much you can’t do with this rotisserie oven. You can roast up to a 16 pound turkey in this thing. It can also be used to bake a casserole or desserts (pumpkin pie, anyone?) making it the perfect appliance for preparing a feast.

The adjustable heating controls make cooking anything pretty simple if you follow the instructions and approximate cook times suggested in the enclosed booklet.

The best feature that you will use a lot is the ability to pause cooking to add barbeque sauce or just test the meat for doneness.

The round basket can handle some pretty big roasters for the baked potato fans in your house. Slice them up and make home fries in the flat basket, too. A little garlic olive oil and you’ll be serving up better fries than can be found in most restaurants.

This rotisserie oven needs a roomy environment and puts out some pretty intense heat so make sure it has plenty of space around it and not bumping up against a plastic coffee maker or another appliance.

Just like with the smaller George Foreman rotisserie ovens the Big George is pretty easy to clean. It comes apart for easy washing with some hot water and good dish soap that cuts through grease.

Who Is The Big George For?

The Big George is a big commitment of space and money. However, for the nearly limitless cooking possibilities it’s worth every penny. A big family, church group, or club that throws parties or fundraisers will love the Big George.

If you are cooking for a crowd like a caterer or your son’s football team, this is the rotisserie oven for you. Making Thanksgiving, or any holiday dinner, just got easier since you can roast and bake in the Big George.

Tips And Tricks:

When you get your George Foreman rotisserie oven, regardless of the size, you will want to also invest in some elastic food ties or cooking twine. This will help secure the meat to the spit and keep it from touching the door or heating elements and burning.

You might read some customer’s review that says to line the drip trays with aluminum foil for even easier cleaning. We don’t recommend that since it will change the balance of the heat in the oven and skew cooking times.

Don’t let the spit, kabob skewers or baskets sit for long after use. Put them into some hot soapy water and they will wash right up. You can avoid a lot of stuck on food by brushing some canola oil on the baskets or wire rack before you cook in them.

Take the door and back reflector out when they are still warm (NOT hot) and they will wipe clean pretty easily.

We don’t recommend putting any of the parts in the dishwasher so that they will last a lot longer and not get bent.

We based this rotisserie oven review on all 3 versions of GF rotisseries, and as they each serves a different need and function, we rated them as an overall brand, on design, comfort, features and extras.
