A lot of GF grills are huge kitchen counter space hogs or cabinet killers. Those are great if you have a big kitchen or need that much grill for a big family. However, not everybody is grilling for six every night for dinner and the GRP4 grill is just the right size for a single or couple.
I love the taste and consistency of grilled meats and vegetables, but have a miniscule kitchen and am only cooking for one. When I got this grill from my parents as a move-in gift I was thrilled to give it a try.
Read The Directions
I am guilty of just yanking things out of the box and firing them up figuring I’ll learn by doing. That backfired on me with this grill. Since a lot of you reading my review may start off with a small GF grill like this, let me save you the hassle of repeating my mistakes.

- Wash the trays in hot water and thoroughly dry them before you use them for the first time. If you don’t your first meal cooked on it will have a funky taste.
- The non-stick coating is good, but not infallible and burnt cheese is a sinister mess on one of these. Brush grill plates with butter or some canola oil before use.
- Don’t slap food on the grill as soon as you turn it on. It will not cook right and taste like crap. Use the temp gage and let the grill heat up properly before you put cook anything on it.
- The grill plates are hot on top and bottom so food cooks a lot faster than you might imagine. Read the included booklet on approximate grill times and monitor your first few burgers or toasted cheese sandwiches or you’ll burn them.

Bacon, salmon and toasted cheese sandwiches, oh my!

Once you get the hang of using this the George Foreman GRP4 (see the above) there is not much you can’t cook to perfection on this thing.
I hate mushy vegetables. I can’t get enough of grilled broccoli and zucchini on my little grill buddy. The spears cook up in flash, thoroughly heated through, but not wilted and mushy. Paired with my favorite fish, salmon you can have dinner ready in less than ten minutes!
Bacon is crispy and well-done but not burned and the sloped grill plate design lets all the fatty grease drain down into the little drip tray. Toasted cheese sandwiches are ready in a jiffy, but heed my warning about the industrial strength stickiness of American cheese. Put a light layer of butter on the grill plates so it doesn’t stick so badly if it bubbles over onto them.
Everything not burned to a crisp on the grill washes off in hot water or in the dishwasher. If you do get something stuck on, use the plastic spatula it comes with to scrape off the offending food to avoid damaging the non-stick surface. Being able to remove the grill plates is a bonus when it comes to clean up.

The manufacturer claims you can cook five burgers on the GRP4, but only if they are slider sized. Three is the max in my opinion. This is perfect for me as a single and just right when my boyfriend stays for dinner or my folks visit.
I can see this grill being perfect for college kids, young couples without kids or to take with you on your boat or camper because it has such a compact design. The only complaint I have about that is, the electrical cord is ridiculously short so it has to be really close to an outlet. Not a huge deal though.
